How much does it cost to renew a passport?

‍

How long do I have to renew my passport after it expires?

There is no specific time limit for renewing your Mexican passport after it has expired. However, it is essential to renew it **as soon as possible** to avoid issues, as an expired passport cannot be used for travel or certain legal procedures.

In practical terms, you can renew it at any time after expiration, but it is suggested that you start the renewal process at least 6 months before it expires. This is because many countries require visitors' passports to have a minimum of 6 months' validity upon entry.

Furthermore, renewing your passport well in advance allows you to avoid problems if you need to travel unexpectedly. Renewal processes can take time, and having an up-to-date passport ensures you can travel without delay or have enough time to complete the process without rushing.
