Weekly USD/GTQ analysis
During the last week, the behavior of the exchange rate between the US dollar and the Guatemalan quetzal was influenced by standard factors in the foreign exchange market, according to information published by the Bank of Guatemala. Currency buying and selling operations conducted by financial institutions continued to be part of the normal flow within the system.
According to Reuters and Bloomberg, currency markets remained focused on international economic developments, with no extraordinary changes or high-impact events reported that were directly related to the quetzal. At the close of the period analyzed, there were no significant monetary policy announcements noted that would have substantially altered the dynamics of the USD/GTQ exchange rate.
Domestically, the Bank of Guatemala reported that regular foreign exchange intervention operations continued to be carried out within the framework of its current exchange rate policy. However, no exceptional measures were recorded, and available information indicates that market performance remained in line with trends observed in previous weeks.
